meet melissa nash

The Brighton Girls Lacrosse Executive Board is thrilled to announce the hiring of Melissa Nash as our new High School Varsity Coach for the 2017-2018 Girls High School Lacrosse season.

Coach Nash brings a wealth of experience and talent to Brighton Girls Lacrosse and we look forward to the continued success of our program under her leadership. We can’t express enough our appreciation for Coach Maggie Herrneckar and Coach Glee Corsetti who have decided to pursue coaching opportunities at the collegiate level. They are both incredibly talented coaches and we wish them all the best and look forward to seeing all the success that awaits them in the future.

Brighton Girls Lacrosse has a great tradition of achievement and we know Nash will build on that tradition through her experience, example and leadership. Coach Nash played collegiate lacrosse at Brigham Young University where she served as a team captain and received Rookie of the Year, MVP, Coaches Award and Top Scorer honors. During her seven seasons at BYU, Nash was a starter every game she played. In 2013, Coach Nash served as the assistant varsity coach of the Skyline High Girls state championship team. Nash has also served in many capacities with juniors programs and most recently as the Junior Varsity Coach for Brighton Girls Lacrosse. Nash played high school lacrosse for Olympus High school where she was a starter all four years and served as a team captain her junior and senior year. Nash has also served as coach of the Utah U-15 team and assistant coach of the Utah U-19 team as well.

Here are some statements we received from Glee and Nash we wanted to share:

Glee Corsetti:

To Brighton Parents and Players - I have been lucky enough to share these last 3 years with this unbelievable group of dedicated individuals. I feel especially blessed to have spent 3 years building relationships that I feel confident will last a lifetime. To all of you who made the program as successful as it is - you have love in your heart, a passion for your children, and an unwavering belief in lacrosse as a whole and I thank you for making my time with Brighton unforgettable. As I make the decision to move on, I do so with a very conflicted heart - I have laughed harder than I ever imagined, cried over defeats, believed in young women who will take over the world, and looked forward to each and every moment on the field. I will forever be a Bengal and you will always be my home. Thank you for your commitment and love. If you need me, I will always be committed to this program and you will see me again in the near future.

Melissa Nash:

Hey Bengals! I'm so excited to step into the head coach position at Brighton! I've loved being part of the Bengal team for the last couple of years. Mostly, I've loved watching the program and players succeed! I look forward to continuing that success! I have big shoes to fill - Maggie and Glee are extraordinary coaches! I have so much respect for the standard they've set and have learned so much from them. Thanks Maggie and Glee! It's going to be a great year! Thank you Board, parents and players for all you do! I can't wait to get started! Go Bengals! -NASH

Our new season is off to a great start! We look forward to Super 7’s and encourage all our high school players to participate and join in the fun. GO BENGALS!
